Renaissance Church. We are...
A Cell Church
Life is not meant to be lived alone. We are surrounded by crowds of people all the time, but somehow we can remain lonely and isolated from true community. Unfortunately, this is the experience of far too many “church-goers”. Large church celebrations are valuable, but they are not complete. We need community - the kind we can only get in small groups of people. Jesus taught his followers to live and love together - in community. And so, in addition to large gatherings on Sundays, Renaissance Church puts strong emphasis on what many people call “cells” - small groups of people who meet together in a home once a week.
At Renaissance Church, we call our cell groups “Life Groups” In our Life Groups, we help each other on our common journey to grow in our relationship with God. We worship together. We share our personal struggles and discuss how to apply God’s Word to our individual lives. Most importantly, we love each other. We help those that are hurting, and celebrate with those who are rejoicing.
Have you ever been absent from church, and knew that no one noticed? It won't happen in a Life Group. Need a helping hand to get you through a difficult time? It's the people in your Life Group who will gladly be there for you.
Multi-ethnic and multi-cultural
The Renaissance Church dream is to be a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural church that reaches people’s hearts with the love of Jesus Christ. God welcomes people from all backgrounds into His family, and commands us not to discriminate. We believe that church should resemble heaven, where men and women “from every nation, tribe, people, and language” (Revelation 7:9) worship God together. Jesus calls for unity among those who follow Him. (John 17:20-23) Such unity makes a profound statement about God’s love for all mankind. And our lives are enriched by sharing our lives with people from diverse cultures.
Outward Focused
The compassion of Jesus moves us to help others, and to share His marvelous love. This means acting with compassion and generosity towards every person we can touch. Renaissance Church is committed to being a blessing to the people of Charlotte.
We are a community of people that have been transformed by the love and power of Jesus Christ.
Therefore, we are committed to sharing His love and power with our friends and neighbors. We want to create environments in which people who are unfamiliar with church will feel comfortable and loved - and experience the special kind of community we share in Christ.
A Church rooted in the timeless truths of Christianity, alive in the power of the Spirit
Christianity is a relationship with God, not just a religion. Through Jesus Christ, we can participate in a real connection with God every day. By the working of the Holy Spirit, we experience His love and power, and partner with Him to serve others.
Worship is expressing our love, thanks, and praise to God. How can we not be passionate? He deserves our whole heart.
The Bible is God’s holy, inspired Word. It is the supreme source of truth, and its teachings constitute our final authority as Christians.
Prayer is the driving force of Renaissance Church. We are not so much interested in what we can do in our own strength, but rather what God can do through us. That’s why we pray. And we have seen God answer in so many powerful ways... bodies healed, relationships restored, people set free from bondage. God delights to answer, because He cares. (He cares for you, too!)
Tremendous life transformation occurs when we combine these elements with the working of the Holy Spirit in an environment such as our Life Groups. Personal growth doesn't happen in a vacuum. The community provided through Life Groups creates the kind of environment that Jesus envisioned for His Church.
